My Daughter Has Concerns

For several years we were told that our daughter has eczema.  Knowing this we are cautious about everything we do that might effect her.  Going on a cruise in a little over a month brings this back to light.  My wife is questioning the doctor, and if we should change doctors because he is saying she doesn’t have eczema, and yet I don’t think you just lose eczema.  Correct me if I am wrong.  Going on the cruise there will be sun, and moist air for the most part, but there will be some dry times, and that is the times that we worry about.  What is the most common eczema treatment that you have heard of?  I know I also don’t want to have to see the ship doctor because they charge big numbers for that, and I don’t think they accept medical insurance.

Cruise Eating

Disney Cruise food is excellent.  I am sure if you have been on a Disney Cruise that you know this as well.  There is always something good at your table, and the deck parties bring even more dangerous eating to the situation.  We leave for our cruise in @40 days.  While this is great we have all been concerned that we are going to come back looking like “Augustus” from Willy Wonka.  This concern comes because after cruising Disney 3+ times we know the kind of food that they serve, and how much we “CAN” eat.  We have decided that even though we are on vacation we will have to breakdown, and attempt to use the fitness center on the boat.  Here is how I plan on getting around all of this… I will make sure that my pre workout supplement consists of lots of good food, and I will just have to workout just a bit more to get it off after.

Toontown Is Gone.

I was just checking out JeffLangeDVD.com, and saw video and pictures of what Toontown in Disney World looks like now.  They were pretty fast in putting up a large green fence, and taking down what they needed to in order to continue with the Fantasyland Expansion project.  The Fantasyland Expansion project is tenative to be complete in 2012.

In the photos that I saw you can see that Judges Tent, Mickeys House, and Minnies House are gone.  This leaves me to wonder where they put Plutos dog beds.  That’s a joke.  From everything that I have read Goofy’s Barnstormer will remain, and be renamed.  I am not sure about the ship at this point.

With all the walls that are up around Fantasyland it makes me a bit more happy that I am not going to the Magic Kingdom for the upcoming trip we are going on.  Yes, Disney needed a major change somewhere, and it looks like it will finally get it.  I believe that this expansion will greatly increase the amount of people that can get into the Magic Kingdom, which isn’t always a good thing.

What do you think about the expansion project?

Disney Cruise Findings

We are set to cruise in @45 days.  A few weeks back we went to our local county offices and had our passport cards ordered.  This was just a drop in the bucket of @$200.  (That was a sarcastic comment by the way.)  Well, the other day I was chatting with a person in our cruise group that was telling me that she didn’t have a passport.  I told her to quickly call Disney and verify the real answer.  I then told her to give passport control a call to verify.  What I have come to find is this… If you are on a closed-loop cruise you do not have to have a passport.  A closed-loop cruise is any cruise that departs, and returns to the same port.  What they do tell you is that you must have a passport book in order to leave the foreign locations if there is some sort of travel emergency and you need to fly out.  Being that I will stay wherever I am if I am sick, or something I wasn’t getting the passport book.  I got the passport card thinking that it was required to have some sort of passport.  I also wouldn’t fly out simply because I wouldn’t have that kind of money laying around to pay for flights.  Unless I am dying… I am not flying.  (No… I am not afraid of flying.)

What I am actually finding from several people I talked to is that the cruise companies would rather you have a passport for many reasons, but having the passport also reduces their amounts of paperwork because of it being a major document.  Well, now I am stuck having a passport, and being @$200 lighter on money.  Isn’t life grand?

Travelling To Disney

We originally started our travels to Florida by driving there.  One year we were leaving Florida and dropped my mother off at the airport.  Before we even got out of Florida my mother called and said that she was home.  After that we flew via Spirit for the next few years.  When the cost of flying got too much we started driving again.  This year when our insurance was cancelled we starting hunting through cheap car insurance quotes to find a price that would be good enough for us to have our camper on the insurance for when we ever do get to drive down to Florida with our camper.  Campers aren’t cheap to have on insurance.  We got lucky.

The last time we camped in Florida we drove down in my truck, and rented a camper from El Monte.  The prices were good, and we have been trying to decide if it is easier to rent one over towing one down to Florida.  The increased cost for gas, speed, and other factors make us not sure of what we want to do in the future.
