Smoking In Disney World

My uncle is a big cigar smoker.  I haven’t been to Disney World with him as far back as I remember.  He used to go to DisneyLand to just sit and eat, and enjoy the atmosphere while smoking his cigars.  Needless to say that he obviously can’t do that anymore. I just found out in searching through the maps of Downtown Disney that there is a cigar bar named Fuego.  This sounds like a place that my uncle would really enjoy.  I can imagine the money that they are making, and wonder if they actually sell cigars also.

Nevermind… Disney is against smokers.

While I am talking about smoking…
Smoking outside is still outside. If you don’t like the smoke, then walk somewhere else. How can the government justify putting any restrictions on our outside areas? What’s next… Our homes? Our cars? Our funerals? Let everyone do as they wish. If it isn’t illegal to smoke, or drink, then stop being the concerned mother. You can be concerned if you police both equally.

Now that Disney has alienated the smokers I don’t enjoy my time there as much because I have to be inconvenienced in many ways.  I used to be able to smoke in our room, and that has changed.  They ended that abruptly for everyone including DVC.  Now they just offer a “Cleaning” fee if you are found to be smoking in the rooms.  In the parks you need a map to find the smoking areas.  By the way… the smoking areas seem to move around based on the time of year at the parks.  Several have not moved, but several have moved.  Why do the smokers have to take so much garbage?  Can anyone actually point me to any statistic that actually states “Smoking” as a killer?  I think not.  Actually I know not.  Cancer is caused by many things, and smoking has been part of the hitlist for a long time.

When the government realizes that alcohol does more damage than cigarettes we will have a changed nation.  The reason I think the government doesn’t want to do anything is any of the following reasons… DWI fines, Alcohol taxes, and Alcohol “Proceeds”.

Big Brother can claim all that they want, but until they have solid proof of cigarettes actually killing someone, then they should leave the smokers alone. Once again… Show me one statistical chart showing “SMOKING” as the cause of death, and I may reconcider my opinion, and thoughts.

Disney… stop the one way thinking, and start thinking “Fully Politically Correct.” If you are going to be narrow minded, then make sure you don’t look like a hypocrite. If you are going to stop the smoking because it is “Bad for You”, then I would suggest you look at the other family member… Alcohol. I know I won’t get a DWS (Driving While Smoking) offense on my license. I also know that one cigarette too many won’t cause me to drive erratic, and crash into a bus full of people and kill them. Also think of how many cartoons showed characters smoking in them. How can you change your thinking process? Is it because so many alcohol companies are willing to get into bed with you so both of you can make money?

Disney Dream Entertainment Information

I have been on both the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder.  Both cruises were spectacular.  The best of all was the 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise.  We are not taking a 7 night cruise this time… Well, actually we are, but it is spread out over 2 cruises Back To Back.  We did this because the Disney Dream isn’t doing a 7 night cruise when we wanted to cruise, so we are doing a 3 night, and then a 4 night.

Here is some information that I received…

Disney Dream’s Spectacles Designed to Take Cruise Ship Family Entertainment to New Heights

CELEBRATION, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2010) – Talk about elevating cruise ship entertainment to new heights: A little mermaid soars over the stage in a stunning aerial ballet … Pirates rappel from atop the ship’s funnel during a swashbuckling adventure … The evening sky lights up with a dazzling spectacle of sound and color.

When the Disney Dream sets sail in January 2011, Disney Cruise Line is more than just raising the bar with entertainment designed to charm and bedazzle the entire family.  Guests will delight to some of the most elaborate original musicals presented at sea, over-the-top deck parties and, bursting above it all, the largest fireworks spectacular aboard a cruise ship.

It’s Show Time!

Every night is show time at Walt Disney Theatre, an elegant, 1,340-seat entertainment palace that is at once classic and ultra-modern.  Spanning three decks with orchestra and balcony seating, the theater is resplendent with art deco styling recalling luxurious show places of a bygone time.  At the same time, it is equipped with theatrical technology that makes it one of the most advanced venues on land or sea, allowing producers to bring original productions and Disney stories to life in a whole new way. The lineup of musicals presented at Walt Disney Theatre includes:

“Disney’s Believe”

Headlining the musical repertoire is “Disney’s Believe,” an original stage spectacular premiering aboard the Disney Dream.  Combining a heartfelt story with a captivating musical score, the lavish production tells the story of a workaholic father who, through the power of Disney magic, reconnects with his daughter and learns a valuable lesson about what is important in life.  More than 20 of Disney’s most beloved characters take the stage during “Disney’s Believe,” including Cinderella, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins and Belle from “Beauty and The Beast.”

‘The Golden Mickeys’: A Timeless Tribute

“The Golden Mickeys,” an award-style show celebrating the musical heritage of Disney animated films, is a Disney Cruise Line guest favorite.  On the Disney Dream, the show gets an extra sprinkle of glitz and glamour with new production numbers including an aerial ballet featuring Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” and a romantic duet performed by Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, lead characters of Disney’s newest animated feature, “Tangled.”

‘Villains Tonight!’

The malevolent world of the Disney villains takes a comical spin in “Villains Tonight!,” the first full-scale musical production dedicated to the Disney villains.  The show is a fun-filled musical comedy starring Hades (“Hercules”), who embarks on a quest filled with wacky antics and amusing musical numbers to bring evil back into the Underworld. “Villains Tonight!” features a “Who’s Who” of Disney “baddies,” including Ursula (“The Little Mermaid”), the Evil Queen (“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”), Captain Hook (“Peter Pan”) and Scar (“The Lion King”).

Party on Deck

The Disney Dream transforms into a pirate ship with two new events brimming with buccaneer fun and a new fireworks spectacular. The evening kicks off with “Mickey’s Pirates IN the Caribbean,” a family-friendly interactive show featuring the famous Disney characters.  Then, a special appearance by Captain Jack Sparrow, from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, kicks off “Club Pirate,” a high-tech, open-air dance party on the upper decks of the ship.  Guests unleash their inner pirate and dance their boots off during this family-friendly and electrifying bash featuring stunning visuals and special effects.

Fireworks at Sea

The only cruise line to feature fireworks at sea, Disney Cruise Line ups the entertainment ante and lights up the sky with the largest fireworks extravaganza presented aboard a cruise ship. The skies above the Disney Dream explode with brilliant colors during “Buccaneer Blast!”  With more “bang” than ever before, the pyrotechnic spectacular is choreographed to a dramatic score featuring songs from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, Peter Pan and the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at the Disney theme parks.

Disney Dream Dining

Being that we are going away in April 2011 on the Disney Dream we have been discussing with my brother about our dining plans.  We are both discussing when we want to do the Adult Only restaurants.  During none of our past cruises have we dined in the Adult Only restaurants.  Money, and also the fact that we don’t like to dress up played a key part in that.  Reading about the upcoming food makes me wonder if I can find appetite suppressants that work.

One of the biggest things that has changed with the dining system on the Disney Dream is that there are 2 dining times.  Based on the dining time that you have you are given a specific time to see the shows.  The main dining seating is at 5:45pm, and the second is at 8:15pm.  If you are on the 5:45pm time for dining, then you will be on the 9:00pm showtime.  If you are on the 8:15pm dining, then you will be on the 7:00pm showtime.  Either dining times can request to be on the 5:00pm showtime.

If you are traveling with others be sure to have your reservations linked so that you can be seated together.  The dining rotation will be through Enchanted Garden, Royal Palace, and Animators Palate.  When you get onboard the Dream your Key To The World card will show your dining rotation.  There is now an additional Adult Only dining in comparison to the other cruise ships of Disneys.  There is the original Palo, and then there is Remy.  Either one has a $15 per person charge.  Cabanas is another restaurant that serves breakfast, or lunch.  At dinner the restaurant transforms into a table service dining experience.
