Disney Fantasy Coming In 2012

The Disney Dream hasn’t even left Germany, and yet Disney is already dropping the information on the next Disney Cruise Line Ship.  This will bring the count to 4 when the Fantasy is finished.  Here is information on what will become of the existing fleet.

The Disney Fantasy will sail her maiden voyage on April 7, 2012, bringing even more innovation, unique guest experiences and personalized service to guests. A sister ship to the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy will feature an AquaDuck water coaster, magical children’s areas, world-class entertainment, delightful dining, retreats for adults and immersive experiences for guests of all ages with beloved Disney stories and characters.

The Disney Fantasy will sail out of Port Canaveral, Fla., on the popular seven-night Caribbean itineraries – alternating eastern and western – including a stop at Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

The Disney Dream will continue to sail three-, four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, while the Disney Wonder will remain on the west coast, sailing Mexican Riviera itineraries from the Port of Los Angeles. To start the 2012 season, the Disney Magic will sail alternating eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.

Guests will be able to book sailings, including the Disney Fantasy, for the initial part of the 2012 season beginning Oct. 20, 2010. Disney Cruise Line Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members can begin booking 2012 itineraries on Oct. 19, 2010.

Speeding Experience In Disney

In 2 weeks I am going to Disney World.  I was lucky enough to be able to get a chance to see what the Indy Car Experience is like.  My brothers, and father have done the Richard Petty Experience in the past, but I have never done anything like this.  Yes, I do drive very fast when possible, but the speeds I will get to experience will be far more than I have ever, or will ever experience.

I have always wondered what kind of car insurance rates they have on the vehicles that you get in.  I know that they more than likely make you sign your life away before getting into the car, but that is part of the risk I am willing to take in order to finally see what the experience is like.  Maybe my wife should go get life insurance for me quickly.  On a serious note… I haven’t read of any issues at the Disney Speedway, and hope that none ever do.

Have you ever been on a “Race” experience before?  What was it like?

Disney World Signs

Have you ever noticed how many “Welcome”, and entrance signs there are around Disney World in comparison to the “Exit” signs?  I have often wondered why a person doesn’t see many exit signs.  Maybe Disney doesn’t want you to actually leave in the hopes that you will get lost on grounds, and decide to stay.  Some of the signs on Disney grounds are a little vague.  I refer to the “XYZ Resort Area” signs.  If you don’t know in fact which resort you are in the area of, then you wouldn’t know which exit you would need to take to get back to your hotel.

Speaking of signs that you see an awful lot… Well being a smoker I notice that Disney doesn’t seem to like to publicize the whole smoking thing much.  They push us smokers into little corners that are out of site… out of mind.  Meanwhile the drunks get to run amuck in the parks in front of fragile children that shouldn’t have to be exposed to alcohol to begin with.  If they want to filter out smoking, then fair is fair… filter out the drinking.  Why make the Magic Kingdom “Alcohol Free”, and leave everything else subject to poor judgement?

I personally would like to see a few of these signs around Disney.  I don’t want my child subject to alcohol anyway you look at it.  I know quite a few alcoholics in my life.  There is casual drinking, and then there is out of control drinking.  I would venture to guess that at least 50%, or more don’t know when to say “NO!”

Have you ever noticed the “Speed Hump” sign?  Well, that sign alone says it all.  Since when did a bump become a hump?  This was weird for me to see for the first time, as it is very humorous in some ways.  That is a sign that belongs in New York City, and even Los Angeles.  (2 of the most well known “Shady” activity areas.)

Why can’t they keep it simple?

Disney Named Top Cruise Line

That’s right… Obviously Disney is doing something right because they were named the TOP cruise line out of all of them.  They also were named TOP family friendly large ship cruise line.  These things say a lot when I cruise Disney because I don’t go on a cruise to gamble.  I have a family, and knowing how Disney treats their guests is what matters to me.

Here is the information…

That’s right, No. 1! Disney Cruise Line was named the top cruise line by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine last night at the 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards ceremony in New York City. Samantha Brown, renowned travel expert and television host on The Travel Channel, presented the award to Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz at the gala.

While Disney Cruise Line has received over 50 different awards since the company’s beginning in 1998, this award marks a first when it comes to recognition of this caliber. The award is part of the magazine’s annual readers’ survey that recognizes the best in travel for resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies. Disney was honored in the Mega-Ship category.

In addition, the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine also recently named Disney Cruise Line the Top Family-Friendly Large-Ship Cruise Line in their 2010 World’s Best Awards poll.

As Karl commented during his acceptance remarks for the Condé Nast Traveler award last night, this recognition is a testament to the cast and crew members who make the magic happen for our guests, “We build spectacular ships, explore exotic destinations and deliver entertainment that is uniquely Disney, but what our guests remember most is the personal touch that only our crew members can deliver.”

To that, I echo Karl’s remarks and offer congrats to my colleagues both ashore and aboard for achieving this incredible honor!
