I miss the days of the Disney MGM Studios, which are now known as Hollywood Studios, having the backlot tour with residential street. The film houses being decorated was a really nice sight. One of the last times I got to see that was with my wife, and her mother. It was her mothers first, and only time in Disney World before she died. She enjoyed herself as much as she could despite the fact that she was really sick. Anyway… The Osbourne lights are now setup on the street that leads up to Lights, Motor, Action. This is the attraction that caused the real backlot tour to cease being around. I am not really enthralled with the new Osbournes light show that is put on. It isn’t the same as it was, and that was a sight.
Lights, Motor, Action is a car action stunt show that basically shows how auto scenes in movies are created. There are a lot of different things that go on. There are a few parts that have human stunts being done, and a lot of auto stunts. The stunts are performed in specially designed cars. Some of these cars are even driven from the rear. Cars jump a wall of flames that come from a set of stainless steel drums. Herbie even makes an appearance in the show.
We like the show a lot. Be forewarned… make sure to get a FastPass if you can, and if you can’t then be sure to be there early for the show you want to see.
While vacationing in Disney World one can’t but notice that the restrooms are placed in just the right spots so that the rest of a family has to shop while waiting for someone to return. I can say that the restrooms are usually quite clean. Disney seems to have gone to automatic hand drying machines in some of the restrooms.
All that Disney needs to do now is overhaul the toilets from those old ones that they are still using, and maybe upgrade to ones that are a bit more comfortable, or even more conservative on water kinda like the ones that I saw on the Toto toilets website.
I am not one to want to get comfortable in a public restroom, but I also don’t like to be uncomfortable. Some of the ones that they have are just crazy… heated seats, remote control, warm air drying… what’s next?
This year we have our Christmas tree decorated with Disney ornaments only. We have Disney Santa hats, and a lot of other Disney things around. When we were decorating I found that one of my ornaments of Mickey in a tuxedo was broken. I was a bit upset, but wife is going to get some good glue so that we can fix it.
I have to still put out my carousel snow globe outside. I just haven’t been in the Christmas spirit this year, as work really isn’t cutting the bills, and I don’t want to have any of my electric bill skyrocket because of decorations. I don’t like to skimp, but there will be no lights on the house because the electric man isn’t leaving me a present this year by not charging.
It was confirmed that the Magic Kingdom is going to get an overhaul. At the D23 expo artist renditions were shown of the plans for the future of Fantasyland. I noticed in one of the pictures that it appears a new wall will be put up in the back of Cinderellas castle. I hope that they don’t do anything to the castle itself. We have eaten dinner there in the past, and the view through the windows of is absolutelly great, and the mosaic in the walkway through the castle made of glass tiles is quite a site.
I can’t wait to see what they actually do in comparison to the drawings. Things always look great on paper, but the finished product is never what it was actually planned at. Making that section of the Magic Kingdom a bit bigger will be great for kids. They are planning on having sections for each princess, and the fairies as well.
Here is a video clip from D23 about the expansion.
When we go to Disney we are more than likely going to drive like we have for the past bunch of years with the exception of a few flights because of the drastic price drops. When we drive to Disney we have some must have car accessories for the trip.
Having a plug in cooler for the car is great, as you can keep drinks cold for the trip. A backseat dvd player to keep the little ones, and wife busy is another great thing. For me I need to have my Sirius radio. I put on the comedy channel, and drive.
One last thing I take is a bumper mountable hitch carrier. I don’t eat as much gas because there is no wind resistance doing it this way, and having a roof carrier is very inconvenient. Once we get to Disney I will usually take the hitch off, and store it in the hotel storage, or in the room.
