Watersports In Disney World

Many years ago before I met my wife I had the opportunity to take part in a watersport while we were at the Disney World Resort in Florida.  I tried out waterskiing.  This was an experience for me.  Being a highly experienced swimmer, and diver I never thought of the other things that could be done on the water.  For me waterskiing was a bit tough because I had never done it, and usually a persons first time doing something tells whether or not they will do something again.  I enjoyed it, but for me I never did it again because of the cost.

I have been checking out the different things that can be done now at the Walt Disney Resort.  There is a Sammy Duvall watersport center at the Contemporary.  At that location you can get involved in parasailing, personal watercraft, and also towed water sports.

I know I won’t go near the parasailing because I am not that keen on heights.  What’s weird about that is in my line of work I go on rooftops without issue.  If I ever change my mind about parasailing I will be sure to ask about insurance.  The insurance is because if I do something that might finish me I want something to take care of my family.  I am sure people that dive out of airplanes have skydiving life insurance.  I hope they have parasailing insurance, or something like that.

Have you ever taken part in any of the Sammy Duvall activities in Disney World?

Adventureland Suite Disneyland Hotel

I have never been to any of the suites in either Disney World, or Disneyland.  Seeing what they have come up with for guests makes me want to go and stay at one of the suites like the Adventureland Suite at the Disneyland Hotel.  In Disney World they have the Castle Suite, but that is about the most ellaborate accomodations that I can think of.  I know that there is a Mickey Mouse Penthouse, and a Fairy Tale Suite also at the Disneyland Hotel.

After reading I noticed that it is only a fake fireplace.  This obviously has to do with many factors like use, safety, cleaning, and more.  Are there actual fireplace inserts there, or is it just a piece to look like a fireplace?

Info from the Disney Blog…

“This suite takes guests on the most luxurious safari ever. With the feel of an explorers’ camp from the 1930s, the Adventureland Suite features a master bedroom fashioned as a safari lodge with a claw-foot bathtub in the living area. In the master bathroom lies a grotto with a foot spa, steam and rain showers, and lighting and sound effects that make you feel like you’re in a rain forest or a savanna. Younger explorers will love the second bedroom, which makes you feel like you’re sleeping in a safari tent.

The Asian/Indian-inspired main living area includes a wet bar, a flat-screen TV hidden behind artwork above the faux fireplace, and a “hidden” closet (hint: try the bookcase). When you’re in this suite, it even sounds like you’re in the jungle: the doorbell “rings” with tiki gods playing drums, and – for the first time in a Disneyland Hotel suite – themed background music plays three separate tracks inspired by the Jungle Cruise, Disney adventure-themed movies and world music first created for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”

Have you ever stayed at any of the Disney suites?

Contests From Disney

I usually don’t enter many contests that are sponsored by rather large companies.  I was doing some research the other day and found out that there was a contest run that Disney and Volvo were in together.  They had supposedly sunk a treasure somewhere in the world and it was for the taking.  There was also a new Volvo vehicle as part of the contest.  Good thing for things like the volvo S60 custom floor mats being in cars because the floor does get wet, and can you think how wet a floor could be with being in a sunk car…?  The actual car was not sunk.  Just keys.

Anyway… Disney only seems to run contests when they have to do with something that they want to make it big.

Have you ever won a Disney contest?
