Disney Dream Dining

Being that we are going away in April 2011 on the Disney Dream we have been discussing with my brother about our dining plans.  We are both discussing when we want to do the Adult Only restaurants.  During none of our past cruises have we dined in the Adult Only restaurants.  Money, and also the fact that we don’t like to dress up played a key part in that.  Reading about the upcoming food makes me wonder if I can find appetite suppressants that work.

One of the biggest things that has changed with the dining system on the Disney Dream is that there are 2 dining times.  Based on the dining time that you have you are given a specific time to see the shows.  The main dining seating is at 5:45pm, and the second is at 8:15pm.  If you are on the 5:45pm time for dining, then you will be on the 9:00pm showtime.  If you are on the 8:15pm dining, then you will be on the 7:00pm showtime.  Either dining times can request to be on the 5:00pm showtime.

If you are traveling with others be sure to have your reservations linked so that you can be seated together.  The dining rotation will be through Enchanted Garden, Royal Palace, and Animators Palate.  When you get onboard the Dream your Key To The World card will show your dining rotation.  There is now an additional Adult Only dining in comparison to the other cruise ships of Disneys.  There is the original Palo, and then there is Remy.  Either one has a $15 per person charge.  Cabanas is another restaurant that serves breakfast, or lunch.  At dinner the restaurant transforms into a table service dining experience.

Castaway Cay Updates

Have you ever walked from one end of Castaway Cay to the other?  (Boat exit to Serenity Bay)  Well, on our last cruise we did.  There are no appetite suppressant diet pills needed because you will get some serious exercise.  It isn’t a walk that I would want to do again because it takes a lot out of you with the heat, and distance in consideration.  One thing that you can’t seem to avoid while on the island is the sun.  This is great for those that want to tan, but be forewarned that you will burn quickly so make sure you have sunblock, or whatever you use.

The Castaway Cay renovations seem to be coming to a finish as far as my information goes.  Below you will find a newly updated Castaway Cay map.

Some of the new areas are:

Pelican Plunge, Cabanas, Massage Cabanas, and the Observation Tower

The Big Screen On The Disney Cruise

When I go on the Disney Cruise I enjoy going out the the deck, and watching the movies that they put on from time to time.  The one thing that I think would really make it big would be if they did Wii type games on that same screen.  Maybe they could find some reasonible manner to choose who gets to play.  I haven’t figured out what size the Jumbotron actually is, but it is definitelly bigger than the biggest 72″ Samsung HDTV that I have ever seen.  The majority of the staterooms only get @22″ lcd tv.  I have read on other sites that some of the suites get bigger tvs.

Has anyone gone on a Disney Cruise, and watched a movie on the Jumbotron?  What did you think?  Does anyone know the actual size of the screen on the Magic, or the Wonder?

More Information On The Disney Dream

With only @4 months till the sailing of the Disney Dream a lot is being accomplished.  Construction started in March of 2009, and looking at photos the boat is taking shape rather well.  The maiden voyage is scheduled for January 26, 2011.  Keep in mind that this is based on completion, and certification.  (Anything can happen when it comes to deadlines, but this is Disney, so everything will happen magically.)  In doing some research with my little brother we ran into a note about the Virtual Portholes that the Inside Staterooms have.

Virtual Porthole Fact…

And when it’s time for bed (or a nap), just turn off the virtual porthole with a quick flip of the switch.

Here is a photo of the Mickey Pool taking shape on the Disney Dream.

For those that think you will find a “Deal”, or “Special Pricing” on other sites… Well, here is a fact.  Disney does not have to discount, or offer discounts on their ships.  This is proven below.  I ran pricing for a cruise that is @2 weeks away, and the pricing from the “Discount Cruising” site is identical.  I have been told directly that Disney doesn’t need to offer discounts, and I believe this fully.  Disney has something that others don’t have.

We can’t wait for this cruise.  Have you ever been on a Disney Cruise?  Are you going on the Disney Dream?  What are you most excited about on the Dream?

Disney Dream Looking Ahead

My wife, daughter, and I are anxiously awaiting April 2011.  Why…?  Well, we are going on a “B2B” cruise on the Disney Dream.  We were lucky enough to have my brother, and his girlfriend want to go.  I am a very serious Disney cruiser.  I know others have gone on many Disney cruises, but I don’t want to cruise on anyone elses.  Disney cruises seem to be very oriented around everyone, and not just kids as most would probably think.

Well, here is a video of the upcoming Disney Dream.

I have also put a few of the other construction photos so that you can see what they are doing.

Here is a snap from the Meyer Werft webcam.  The boat is looking great, and we can’t wait.
