DVC Is Starting To Annoy Me

I have been a loyal DVC member for a few years.  Recently my wife sat me down, and discussed a serious money problem that we are having.  She pointed out to me that selling our DVC may be the only way to go.  After she showed me the annual dues statement I understood a bit more.  Our dues are at approximatelly $1000 a year.  This money must cover some real good toilet paper, tvs, internet, and maybe even a Refrigerator water filter.  These assumptions are all just me joking around, but the dues are a bit much.  Disney never represented that my dues would jump this much over a few years, and that is what I am ticked about.

Do you have a DVC?  Have your dues jumped up drastically?

Things I Would Like To Know About DVC

Being a DVC member I have a few thoughts about a few things…

These are things that I have thought up because after all DVC members are in it for the long haul… Regular vacationers aren’t making the investment we are.

  1. With the money we pay, and comfort of “HOME” why don’t we have outdoor cushions on the chairs on our patios?
  2. Why can’t we pool hop to Stormalong Bay?
  3. Why don’t they offer some sort of Dining points?  Like 1-2 points per night per person for meals…
  4. Why can’t they allow DVC to get discounts on things in more than just 1 or 2 places?
  5. When are they going to offer the additional years to the other DVC resorts?  (They offered them to OKW owners)

These are just a few of the questions I have come up with over the years of owning DVC.  If you have any insight please feel free to comment here with your thoughts.

Timeshare Tours Are A Waste

We love Disney, but from time to time we want to see what we are missing by owning DVC, and not another timeshare.  While away in Orlando, Fl we sometimes take a timeshare tour to see what else is available on the market.  On one of our more memorable trips we got to tour Westgate.  I would have never thought that I would have had a bad experience, but we did.  We were told to show up at a specified time, which we did.  We were also told we would have a great breakfast waiting for us.

After showing up we had to sit in a lobby, and wait for someone to get us.  We finally got called by a guy, and he brought us into a dining room, and sat us down.  He said that we should get something to eat, so we said ok.  We looked, and all we saw was Hot Dogs, and soda.  Moving on… he took us on a tour of the place.  We stopped, and looked at maps of locations we could stay like the ocho rios hotels, or even Atlantis in Bahamas.  Then we finally came back to the main room where they try to finalize their sale.  We told them that we were only looking, and that was that.  He proceeded to have his boss come over to try and sell us.  We told him no.  He made a final effort to have his boss come over, and we told them that we weren’t dealing with anymore, and that we just wanted to leave, and get our tickets that we were purchasing at a discounted rate because we were touring.  After all was figured out we were there at Westgate for 7 hours.  We contacted the PR dept., and they promised to give us a comp. for 3 nights because of the issues.  We never received that, and I am actually glad because their program isn’t even in the same class as DVC.

The DVC rep met us, and showed us some things.  After we told her that we would contact her she thanked us, and we went on our way.  No high pressure, and no additional salespeople.  Kelly was an excellent DVC tourguide.

No More Valet Parking For DVC.

mickeycop

According to a source that we frequent the following news must be conveyed…

Disney Vacation Club Member Services is reporting that members are no longer eligible to receive free valet parking at Walt Disney World resorts.  Effective Sunday October 11, 2009 , DVC members using valet parking services will be charged a fee of $12 per day. Resorts impacted by this move include the Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club, BoardWalk and Wilderness Lodge.

Members staying at the above DVC resorts can continue to utilize the self-parking lots at no charge.
