Auto Racing In Disney Rundown

Last year I got the privelidge of doing a review on the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Disney Speedway.  Once a participant arrives they are brought to the clothing counter to get fitted for their racing suit.  After that it is onto a classroom to watch a video on the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the experience.  Once you are done you are brought out to the track for final prep.

Track personell then takes you over to the car and gets your HANS device on, and your helmet. The HANS device made it a little uncomfortable for me to get into the car, but I was told that it is a bit odd for most people to enter the car with the HANS in place.  The helmet didn’t cause me any problems.

Now that there is a new experience called the Exotic Driving Experience at the tracks I wonder what kind of equipment that they are using.  Being these new cars are high end exotics I would be curious if the helmets are more like the Scorpion Exo type.  I understand safety, and I may be wrong, but a helmet is a helmet,  isn’t it?

Has anyone experience the Exotic Driving Experience as of yet?  What was it like?

New Driving Experience At Disney World Speedway

Last year I had the privelidge of going for a run at the Richard Petty Experience.  I would have never thought that there would be another experience that could outdo that.  I was wrong.  I recently found out that there is another experience that lets drivers run exotic cars that they would only dream of driving.  I wonder if they put you in a standard racing helmet, or if they use helmets like the Nolan N104.

Prices start at $199 and go up to $389.

Check out the new experience at

Two Races In One Day

I found out the other day while travelling down to Florida that the Richard Petty racing experience is going to let me check it out.  In the same day I am also doing the Indy Car Experience.  This is going to be one heck of a day.  I just hope that I can get the speeding thing out of my system before I drive home, as I got a ticket on my way down.  I can’t believe it will be any worse than the IFly experience that had me wearing a jumpsuit, helmet, and safety glasses.  I know I have to take a training course, and that will be the most important part of the whole thing because if I don’t do everything right I could be in the wall.  I wonder who they charge for damage to the cars?  I know they make the driver sign away liabilities before racing.

Speeding Experience In Disney

In 2 weeks I am going to Disney World.  I was lucky enough to be able to get a chance to see what the Indy Car Experience is like.  My brothers, and father have done the Richard Petty Experience in the past, but I have never done anything like this.  Yes, I do drive very fast when possible, but the speeds I will get to experience will be far more than I have ever, or will ever experience.

I have always wondered what kind of car insurance rates they have on the vehicles that you get in.  I know that they more than likely make you sign your life away before getting into the car, but that is part of the risk I am willing to take in order to finally see what the experience is like.  Maybe my wife should go get life insurance for me quickly.  On a serious note… I haven’t read of any issues at the Disney Speedway, and hope that none ever do.

Have you ever been on a “Race” experience before?  What was it like?

Disney PS3 and a Split Second

I recently noticed that the Playstation Network had released a trailer for a new car video game that Disney is behind.  The name of the game is Split Second.

Unlike other racing games this is claimed to be above the rest in many respects.  Players will be able to dynamically change the racing course in realtime by triggering explosions, and more.  These changes to the course can help, or hinder the racers.  These changes can also make new routes that could help in winning.

The game is tenatively going to be released in 2010.

I am a big Burnout Paradise fan, but Disney may have just stolen my attention.
