DisneyLand Vacation

Disneyland really is a magical place. My husband and I took our kids there last Saturday for my youngest’s sixth birthday. We wanted to get there when the park opened, so we left our house at six AM, making sure to turn on our home security system before we locked up and got into the car. home security in California is something we’re really aware of. The kids were so excited they couldn’t stop talking about what they were going to see for the entire trip there.

When we got there the gates were opened, and people were crowded along the length of Main Street. There were Disneyland employees keeping us from entering the rest of the park until they officially opened. Ben, the birthday boy, decided that the first thing we should do is ride the Matterhorn. As soon as the park was opened we went straight there and were first in line.

I think it was a magical day for Ben and the rest of the family as well. The kids got to meet various Disney characters; Ben was particularly excited to meet Goofy, his favorite, and his sister Sara met her hero, Belle. By eight PM my husband and I were running out of energy, but the kids still wanted to see more. They were really sagging by nine though and slept through the entire drive home. It was a day none of us will soon forget.

I Want To Visit DisneyLand California

I have been going back and forth with my wife about taking a vacation out to California.  Why?  Well, when I was a kid I got to go to California to visit my uncle.  He worked at the L.A. Zoo managing the elephant, and camel ride.  I didn’t mind the heat out there.  I want to take my daughter, and wife out to California so that she can experience all that is out there.  One of the main things that I want both to see is DisneyLand.  Neither of them can understand that the size of the entire DisneyLand is about equivalent to I would venture… The Magic Kingdom.  What I told her is that we could save money by taking our camper.  Granted I would need a good towing plan like the Good Sam towing, or AAA so that if anything happens I have it covered.  She doesn’t want to make that trip because it is approximatelly 7 days drive out, and 7 days drive back.  Then you have to add on time to stay, and enjoy what you went to see.  Maybe even add in a stop in Vegas, and the Sequoia forest.  The only way that I could allow it to happen would be during the summer, and that isn’t the brightest thing someone could do.  Why is that the only time?  Well, I don’t want my daughter missing that much school, and what we do take her out of is enough.

If you have any good thoughts on how I can convince them to go to CA. then please let me know.

Almost Time To Leave

Disney World is only a few days away, and we are all getting anxious.  We have reservations for some of the best buffets around, and being we are on Annual Passeswe can go in, and out of the parks as much as we want.

I forgot to give my wife our “Packing List”, and she has made it abundantly clear that anything we forget is my fault.  I got her the list so that we can get this done without incident.  The listwas put together so that we can be sure to have everything.  She has added a few things to our list this year.  She is concerned that they may be needed.  We haven’t needed them before, but she has added things like day creams, curling iron, and some dress clothing.  The dress clothing I understand in case we go to a nicer restaurant, but the creams…?

When we make up the list we make our little one write down what games she is bringing for her DS, and PSP.  This is so that we can keep track of the games when we pack to leave for home.  We have limited how many games because we know that kids have a tendancy to lose things.  Last trip to Disney World we forgot a dvd that we had brought.  The things that the maids find in a Disney hotel at cleanup time is probably amazing.

Vacationing With Others

This past October we were surprised to find that my brother-in-law (M), his wife (R), and his daughter (O) had gone to Disney World.  They called me, and found out that we were there.  We thought that it would be a bad move to do Disney World with M, but strangely enough we actually had a good time.  He has made comments in the past that it would be miserable.  He was rather shocked to see we are very nice people when we are on vacation.

I feel bad for his wife because she was pregnant when they went, and I am sure it was rough.  She didn’t smoke during her pregnancy, while in Disney she stayed off the rough rides, and I am sure that she had to be on some of the best prenatal vitamins because M wants the best.  I don’t know how she did it, but quitting smoking is very hard to do.  We are going to be testing electronic cigarettes while we are in Disney this trip.

Each day they met us at our room in The Disney Animal Kingdom Villas.  They thought that the view from our room was nice.  We wanted to go swimming, but there was a slight chill, and we didn’t want the kids to get sick.  We love the pools in Disney because they are nicely designed, and they have a lot of things for kids to do.

We made the comment to R that we were going to go on a Disney Cruise in 2011, and she seems interested, but I don’t think that M will let it happen.  I can understand because the baby will still be a bit young, and how can you really enjoy yourself on a cruise when you have a little one to care for.  Once they get older it is easier.

Last time we were supposed to go on a cruise with M there was a small mishap, and caused O to be in a cast.  They didn’t think she would enjoy it much, so they had to cancel.  Disney cruises are great no matter what is all I have to say.  We enjoy them so much we are going to be taking 2 cruises back to back in 2011.  (A 3 night, and a 4 night)

Final Prep For Easter Trip To WDW

Today I made some calls, paid some bills, and finished all the last minute preparations for our upcoming trip to WDW.  We had to make sure that we were going to actually stay in the timeshare because we have been talking about going down, and camping in Disney World with our camper.  We decided against doing that because of gas, time, and more.  Lastly I had to take care of getting our auto insurance straightened out, and everything else seems caught up for this trip.

We usually let my mother meet us in Disney when we go, but this year the wife, and daughter want to try out vacationing on our own.  We did it once before, and it was ok.  We are going to stay in Old Key West.  I had forgotten to make a few of our dining reservations, so I had to rush through, and get them made.  I luckily enough got all of the reservations that we wanted, so we will be eating rather well.  We made reservations for:

  1. Coral Reef
  2. Teppan Edo
  3. Chef Mickey’s
  4. Crystal Palace
  5. 1900 Park Fare
  6. Ohana
  7. Hollywood & Vine

I am unsure of the weather, so we are going to play that by ear for the next week, or so.  I am currently getting our laptops ready to go, and I got a wireless access point so that both of our laptops can be online in our room.

We are hoping to just do a bit of relaxing, but knowing that we won’t be going back to WDW for a bit is what bothers me.  I mean unless money gets better we aren’t planning on returning again this year.  We want to do the Disney Dream cruise in 2011, so we are going to try and save some money.

I plan on getting answers that you send me, and doing a bit of research on a few things, so please let me know if there is anything you need answered, or photographed, or video recorded.

Is anyone else going to Disney World for Easter?  Let me know.
